How My Students Learn To Read and Analyze Works of Fiction
This is a rather specialized talk, and its value depends largely on having students who have been taught to read fiction with particular emphasis on language, rhetorical techniques (diction, metaphor, irony, etc.), form, and themes. It offers an alternative approach, emphasizing plot and character development. Students with a more traditional, more formal way of reading will benefit much more than any who already are using the approach.
